Crossing Borders - Movements and Struggles of Migration

Transnational Newsletter, 4th Issue, October 2007: One year ago Crossing Borders appeared for the first time as an attempt to foster transnational communication: in reference to the migration-related networking process in general, but connected to practical struggles and initiatives in particular. The first issue was published for the transnational action day on October 7th 2006, then we used the opportunity of the World Social Forum in Nairobi in January 2007 for a second, and this years mayday for the third issue. Our earlier reports mainly covered conflicts in western Europe, in Africa and the USA. This new issue includes impressions from the Ukraine, with a main focus on the noborder Camp in Transcarpatia that took place last August. "At least, when we create concepts, we are doing something"

The new war, post-modern war, global war -- almost every major military operation over the past 15 years has evoked a new debate about the new character of war. After 9-11 state of war has turned into a normality. Five years of global belligerence have turned the world upside down, in a way that the extent of the ongoing changes cannot be fully conceived yet.

On February 23 to 25 the fourth edition of DICTIONARY OF WAR took place as a collaborative platform for creating concepts on the issue of war. In Sophiensaele in Berlin again 25 concepts have been invented, arranged and presented by scientists, artists, theorists and activists.
